8 Cheap Eats in Manchester
If you’re looking forward to exploring Manchester’s foodie scene, this one’s for you. Sticking to a budget doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck in Greggs and Wetherspoons for the rest of your student days (although, there’s no shortage of them in Manchester and we all love a pasty, right?)
UA92’s very own Isaac Williams has done all the research and found these Manchester cheap eats to add to your ‘must try’ list.
Nell's
With three Manchester locations, you can’t miss Nell’s. They specialise in New York pizza (think thin crust you can pick up and fold) and their signature ice cream sandwiches are not to be missed. You can pick up a pizza from £7.77 (every weekday until 4pm) and their generous happy hours (everyday, timings differ) makes it a great place to grab a drink with friends.
Bunny Jackson's
25p wings! Somewhat a Manchester institution – Bunny Jackson’s has a whole menu of chicken wings starting from just 25p per wing.
Bundobust
With two locations in the city centre, this all veggie Indian street-food joint is well worth a visit. Whether you’re after the Bhaji Butty (£7.50) or their lunchtime two dishes for £10.25 deal, it’s certainly a place that will tantalise your tastebuds without putting too much of a dent in your wallet.
Wolf at the Door
At the heart of Manchester’s famous Northern Quarter, there’s no need to make a choice between tacos or bao. Starting at just £1 each, there is a great selection of creative cuisine at this cool vibes venue. Their chippy curry bao is pretty legendary and definitely not to be missed.
Sunrise Caribbean Takeaway
A student favourite for authentic Caribbean food – you must try their lamb and jerk salmon.
Yard & Coop
Yard & Coop is all about serving up proper fried chicken with tasty sides, classic cocktails and craft beers, and having a damn good time doing it. Make use of their weekday lunchtime offer (lunch and a drink for £8!) or sign up for their Mates Rates student card which gives you 20% off your bill, Sunday – Thursday.

Described as ‘Manchester’s favourite curry house’, this place is delicious and great value for money. For £6, you can fill a plate with rice and three authentic veggie curries. Meat-eater? For an extra £2, you can get rice and three meat curries for just £8.
