Pastoral Support
UA92'S Chaplaincy
UA92 chaplains are part of the wider Student Support Service. They are here to offer pastoral support to any UA92 student, whether you might be of faith or not. You can arrange to meet up with any of the chaplains on or off campus, maybe to go for a walk, grab a coffee or just have 5 minutes to talk something through. All chaplains can be contacted by email and on Teams, or you’ll often see them around campus so feel free to grab them for a chat!
MEET OUR CHAPLAINS
Hello, I’m Duncan. I was born in Chorlton and now live in Firswood about a mile away from where I was brought up so I haven’t ventured very far. I was named after an old Man Utd player called Duncan Edwards and yes I am a Man Utd fan. I am a very keen distance runner and go out running 4 or 5 times a week. I completed the Manchester Marathon this year and have entered again for next year. My other hobbies are watching most sports, reading and photography. I love meeting people from all types of backgrounds to find out about their life experiences and culture.
Hi, I’m Mohamed Hanif, Imam for over 30 years. My main passion is studying Islam, travelling to new places and hiking. I love my religion and I am always eager to learn and share with others. Hilda’s Church or in any of the parks, playing on the swings and searching for bugs in the mud. Come and find me for a chat Tuesdays 1-2pm – I hang out near reception and would love to meet you.
Hi I’m Ross, the Rector (lead minister) at St Hilda’s Church. I am very glad if I can help support you at UA92 because University was a key time for me, where I became a Christian. I went on to work in computing and management, before moving into Church leadership. I am married with three children. We all enjoy sport of various kinds, particularly swimming. Although I don’t do judo any longer, one surprising fact is that when I was captain of my university judo team I had the opportunity to meet the Crown Prince of Japan, who is now the Emperor! That led to an amazing 3-week tour of Japan competing against universities there. I studied Mathematics originally, and now have theology degrees as well, but retain a keen interest in science.
Hello, I’m Mohammed Yahya. I currently teach Arabic, Quran and Islamic studies. I graduated in 2021 in Traditional Islamic Sciences. I am still very much a student and still learning and evolving to better myself so I can best help others.
Hello! My name is Maribel Beyuma and I am from Bolivia. For many years God gave me the opportunity to serve as a tutor, counselor, mentor and chaplain in South America and now I serve in Manchester at St. Hilda’s Church with the different communities and at UA92 as a chaplain. I am here to help students with their pastoral or well-being needs, but regardless of your faith or beliefs, I am here to chat and to help you to connect with the community, recognizing the masterpiece that you are. I firmly believe that every person is a masterpiece and is unique in the world.
