Living at Home

COMMUTING TO UNI?

Commuting to uni doesn’t mean sacrificing a life-changing experience! Loads of our students choose to live at home while studying, and commute to campus. It’s great way to balance uni life with personal commitments as well as save money. Students who live at home still have plenty of opportunities to make friends through clubs, societies and events.

Below you can find all the answers you need about traveling to uni, transport links, commuting benefits and ways to make friends.

Commuting to Uni

The Bee Network

The Bee Network is Manchester’s main transport system. Whether you’re wanting to get around by tram, bus or bike, they’ve got you covered. You can get a student bus ticket valid from 1st September to 30th June for £330, or a ticket valid per term. You’ll need your student ID along with your ticket. You can buy student tickets on the Bee Network App or at a Information and Ticket Office.

Starling bank bike hire is available if you want to travel by bike – find cycle routes here. There are also tram stops all over the city, including the Old Trafford tram stop just a 2 minute walk from campus, and St Peter’s Square 10 minutes from the Business School.

If you are an AM student, your start time is 9am. If you are a PM student, it’s 2pm.

The benefit of our fixed morning or afternoon timetable is that you shouldn’t have gaps in between classes. But, if you want to hang around when your class finishes to get ahead with some independent study, both our Old Trafford campus and UA92 Business School have plenty of study booths for group of individual working.

Check out this blog written by former UA92 student, Niamh. She explains some of the benefits of living at home, if you can!
